Pink Slips and Glass Slippers - J.P. Hansen This book took me by surprise. I enjoyed it very much. I was skeptical but intrigued when I picked it up because it is a romance written by a man. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have to say I was impressed. It is really well done.

The characters in the book are very likeable. I love that Brooke was a strong, intelligent woman. I loved how she was able to work through the issues that she was struggling with. I particularly enjoyed her relationship with her father. I fell for Chase from the start. He was so adorably clueless. I really enjoyed his relationship with his son. The peripheral relationships of both characters added to the story instead of distracting from it.

The story itself was terrific. It is set in a corporate environment and centers on forbidden love. Chase can’t act on his attraction because he is Brooke’s boss. Brooke cannot act on her attraction because Chase is married and he is her boss. On top of this angst, they are both dealing with issues in their personal life. There was even a little suspense added with the kidnapping of Parker. I was very satisfied with the ending.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well rounded romance with a happy ever after ending. The acknowledgements indicate the book started as a dare and the author tends to publish nonfiction work but I hope he considers writing more like this. My overall rating was 4.5. Well done, Mr. Hansen.
